Bolton Emergency Management is responsible for coordinating with town departments, state and federal authorities to protect the public during disasters and emergencies.
Bolton Emergency Management is linked to the state through the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA).
The Bolton Emergency Management team consists of two Directors and liaison representatives from all the Public Safety departments and DPW.

The mission of the Bolton Emergency Management team is to coordinate resources during emergencies and disasters affecting the Town of Bolton. The EMDs provide leadership to: develop plans for effective response to all hazards, disasters or threats; help train emergency personnel to protect the public; provide information to the citizenry; and assist individuals, families, and businesses to mitigate against, prepare for, and respond to and recover from emergencies, both natural and manmade.
The EMDs support town departments in a number of ways including analyzing risk and vulnerability, sheltering, resource inventory, mutual agreements and maintaining the town’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan
Bolton Emergency Management supports critical town services by coordinating:
- All-hazards communication and planning;
- Emergency preparation, mitigation, response and recovery;
- Training exercises for natural and man-made disasters;
- Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activation and staffing;

The EOC may be activated during town-wide or large scale emergencies. During all major incidents the Town of Bolton operates under NIMS, the National Incident Management System, utilizing the Incident Command System.
